+Let's look at an example:
+

+Answer: **they both starting to have links to each other**.
+
+We have <mark style="background-color:red;">no nesting</mark> for [object](../fundamentals/object/ "mention"). So object doesn't physically include/store different objects.
+
+All Anytype structure based on linking between objects. Links are directional, so you know that page A links to → page B. You can link in the opposite way if you need that. You can't use classical hierarchy when files belong to folders and folders create a path. But you can make some of the objects Favourite so that they will be accessible straight from Home.&#x20;
+

+To keep bandwidth and storage usage low but provide a fast experience, Anytype downloads **Text** and **Images** to your device automatically as they are smaller in size.
+
+Large **Videos** and **Files** are downloaded on demand, i.e., when you click on them, if it is possible to stream them, e.g., a 4k Video, Anytype will stream it directly from the backup node. If it is unable to stream, then Anytype will download the entire file.
+
+To make the experience even better, we have implemented Caching of files, so if you are streaming or frequently using a large file, it will be pre-cached from the server.

When you type a website into your browser, it "asks" another computer – usually, but not always, your internet provider – how to get to the site, and then loads the page.

+This can be problematic, as it centralizes how we access information to a handful of companies.

+[IPFS](https://docs.ipfs.io/concepts/what-is-ipfs/) removes the need for that middleman, as the request is sent to the entire network. This network is made of other users like you. When you "ask" for a page/object, the network point you to the correct place, no centrality is needed.

+We use **relations** to connect objects in the graph. They add context and significance to each connection. For instance, Patrick was born in 1984, he lives in Berlin, and he just finished an essay. His favourite band is Pink Floyd, and his favourite movie is _2001: A Space Odyssey_. Patrick connects to each of these with relations like "date of birth," "location," "last task," "band," and "movie."

+* **Number:** for all numbers. Different formats are coming soon.
+* **Date:** date, optional information for time.
+* **Status:** an array of the string with a restriction on the output of only one element.
+* **Tag:** another variety of the string with no limits, only one string.
+* **Email/phone/URL:** special formats for URL, email, and phone number.
+* **Checkbox:** an object with a boolean, string, or link to an object.
+* **Media:** audio, movies, or pictures which you can view, play, or download.
+* **Object:** reference to a specific object, like a person, task, or document.

+* You cannot currently modify relations included with Anytype.
+* Some relations are read-only, and you cannot change their value. Relations such as `Created` or `Last modified`. Read-only relations have the  icon next to them.
+* If you add a new relation to a Set, Anytype will not add empty values to the relations in that set. However, when you open an object, Anytype will suggest that it relates to you.
+* When creating an object, Anytype will display empty values in the list of relations.

+All your data is private in Anytype alpha. Only you have the encryption keys. No one at Anytype is able to decrypt your data. So if you lose your phrase, we can’t restore the access. No one in Anytype or anyone else can read the content of your Anytype.

+### Keychain
+
+Your keychain phrase is the login and passphrase at the same time.
+
+Similar to Bitcoin — this mnemonic is the represenation of your master key generated on the sign up. It is not possible to change it or automatically migrate all your data to a new key if the current one is compromised or forgotten.
+
+For now we can’t do anything about it rather than creating a new account and importing all the data from the markdown backup. The invitation key can be used only once. Your keychain become stored in OS wallet application after sign up, so app can login automatically when start up.

+### Local Anytype data folder itself is not encrypted
+
+Anytype stores data in non-encrypted way locally. We have a prerequisite that user’s machine is non-compromised and trusted. Basically, if a machine is compromised there are plenty of attacking vectors including RAM scanning and passphrase keylogging, so it is useless. We will definitely make additional encryption later. **For now we recommend turning HDD encryption and device passlock on.**

+### Tech details
+
+There is some technical details on encryption and data storage:
+
+* Anytype stores changes for each object you’ve created
+* Every object’s change has 2 encryption layers with different keys
+* First layer is used to connect changes within an object (e.g. all this encrypted data belongs to the object with id \<abc>)
+* Second layer is used to encrypt the actual data
+* When you create a new change for an object we periodically send it to our backup node(with only the first-layer key). More info about sync [here](syncing-and-p2p.md).
+* Anytype backup nodes have access to the first layer key, so it can group changes for the object and send them in one pack when you want to restore your data
+* Anytype backup nodes HAVE NO access to the second layer key, so it can’t read the actual changes data

+We are using a private IPFS network and [ThreadDB](https://docs.textile.io/threads/) to handle storage. It is a Peer-To-Peer file system that facilitates decentralized storage of data across devices. Furthermore, we use the deduplication feature to reduce storage. E.g. If the same picture is uploaded three times, there is only one image copy stored to reduce storage consumption.

+### Media
+
+Media files are not directly downloaded in overall syncing to save bandwidth. Instead, when that file is requested, it is streamed to your device from the backup node or your devices on the network. E.g. If you have a 4k Video, it will be streamed from the backup node or P2P devices to your device.
+
+So when you open object with  image it downloads, when you press play on video & audio it begin to download. After that this file will be stored in application cache.
+
+## Deletion

+At the moment you can delete only the [object](../fundamentals/object/ "mention") that you create inside Anytype. At first, you can move them to a bin that will remove them from navigation. Secondly, you can remove them completely from all devices. All your devices will also delete them when getting online.

+### Media
+

+Objects like Media and those that come with Anytype (Types, Relations) might be deleted in further releases.

+You can delete all the content via clear cache option in iOS and Android. This will completely remove all the data and will force app to sync once again completely. Since the media download works on-premise (take a look on[#media-1](storage-and-deletion.md#media-1 "mention")) you will remove all cached media and clear some storage.
+
+## Root Folder
+
+The Anytype Root Folder that is variable based on the OS is where all your local data is stored. Currently, it is not possible to change the location of this folder. However, this functionality will be added at a later date.
+
+## Filesystem integration
+
+Anytype does not have a way to reference files from the OS files system. So all the files are getting copied when you dropping media and files inside Anytype. We will introduce this feature later.

+# Syncing & P2P
+
+In the current alpha, all your data primarily syncs to the encrypted backup node. All data storage is at **no cost** to you. The application is always connected to the backup node and cannot be disconnected.
+
+#### Local backups
+
+Anytype is offline-first and our backup nodes are still in early testing (we can’t guarantee data recovery in 100% cases yet), it may be a good idea to do a regular backup of your Anytype folder (bottom-right question mark → Status → Folder path) to some safe place or with markdown Export.
+
+#### Page history
+
+We have history of the document changes that you can use you lose some data, you can restore previous versions. Overall risk of losing some data because of the bug is marginal/non existent. The only part that we can’t guarantee is total recovery from our backup node. It’s still in testing mode an Alpha.
+
+### Syncing. How it works?
+
+All objects are syncing separately. You can have 1 object in the actual state while another being downloading. Every object syncs with all historical changes being merged together. You can work being offline, with different devices, different document states.
+
+The app will transfer small chunks (those changes) of data that will build the document back in forth to devices and backup node. When you open the document not in its actual state, you just need to wait.
+
+Later we will introduce more features bringing transparency into syncing.
+
+### P2P
+
+We transfer objects directly between devices and backup node. That means that you can use the app on several devices in one network without a connection to worldwide web. Interconnections trying to establish with all devices being used with time intervals and if connected then checking changes, transfer data online. We can't broadcast every used device every second, so it can take some time to retrieve data from another device (restarting the app can help).
+
+### Status
+

+* Status `Synced` is shown when: The app is backed on one node at least. If the app retrieved that no changes were made
+* Status `Syncing…` is shown when: For backup node: upload, download, pinning of files happening. For devices (direct interconnection): upload, download
+* Status `No connection` is shown when: Anytype node doesn't connected. You can send the data directly between devices.
+* Status `Not syncing` is shown when: The app failed to sync. It can be network problems or bugs.
+* Status `Preparing...` is shown when: Warming up and initializing synchronization.
+
+Overall status (for an object):
+
+* If the Object is not fully synced with some device or backup node and something is syncing (like device) → then it is in `Syncing…` state
+
+### Troubleshooting
+

+1. To create a **Task tracker**, you need to click + on home, choose [set.md](../fundamentals/set.md "mention") and set **Task** as a source. That's it. **You just started a task tracker! **
+2. So now you can view all Tasks in one place. For the Task list, you may add relations. `Tag` , `Due date` , `Priority` Or any other being useful for your tracker.
+3. You can also use filters, sorts, and views like:
+   1. Relation `Done` `Is` `Unchecked` so you will see only those that are not done
+   2. Create a view Works and Personal with filters `Tag` `contains` `Work` and `Tag` `contains` `Personal` to separate the lists

+
+If you don't like** Relations** and **Templates** used in Task, you can [#create-a-type](../fundamentals/type/#create-a-type "mention") that will fit your needs.
+
+1. You need to open [library.md](../fundamentals/library.md "mention") in **Home** screen, which contains all **Types** in Anytype
+2. Press "Create a new type." 
+3. In your custom **Type**, you can choose any relation and create a template you want.
+4. To create a **Task tracker**, you need to click "Create" → "New Set of objects." 
+
+### Template
+
+It's convenient to create templates for repeatable tasks with pre-filled options. Like Template related to Work can contain `Tag` `==` `Work` with higher default priority
+
